Cumbrian Commute – 1

I live in Cumbria, in the North of England, UK. I composed this poem during my drive to work this morning…

Cumbrian Commute

on slow roads,
leaf-bare trees black
against blue,
grey clouds
glowing gold,
and on a dry stone
wall, a hen pheasant
watching
